uWebChat plugin for WordPress

To help you getting online quickly with the uWebChat solution we created a WordPress plugin. This plugin embeds the uWebChat button on your website. You first need to enable uWebChat in your Microsoft Teams client to use this plugin.

Easy 3 steps setup process

  1. Install uWebChat from

    Microsoft AppSource

  2. Create your first group and add agents to the group

  3. Login to your WordPress site and  download the plugin

In WordPress; to activate the button you need to enter 2 ID’s on the settings page:


Customer ID

This is your unique customer ID that was generated by installing the uWebChat software from AppSource. You can retrieve your customer ID by typing “debug” in the uWebChat chat window.

 

Group ID

This ID can be found by typing “show groups” in the chat window.

Frequently Asked Questions WordPress plugin

Which chat clients are supported by uWebChat?
Currently only Microsoft Teams is supported by uWebChat. Other chat clients will be supported in the near future. 

Is the plugin free?
Yes, the plugin itself uses the GNU General Public License, version 2. 

Does the plugin
require a paid uWebChat license
The WordPress plugin for uWebChat is free, the plugin embeds uWebChat easily within WordPress. You can use the free version of uWebChat, available in  Microsoft AppSource and providing basic features or you can acquire a commercial license with additional features like group settings, automatic translation, servicetimes, Meet Now and more.

Can I change the appearance of the uWebChat button in the WordPress plugin?
It is currently not possible to change the color, image or position of the uWebChat button using the WordPress plugin. However; it is possible to change this manually by editing your site’s CSS. Please consult the uWebChat manual for more information. 

Can I use the plugin without using Teams?
No, Teams is currently the only supported client.

Is this plugin any different than manually add HTML code?
No, it just makes it easier to embed. You can also use the code generated by uWebChat by using the “Embed” command and add it manually to the header and body tags of your page. 

Can I use the same Customer ID and Group ID on multiple WordPress sites (domain names)?
Not in the free version, but in the commercial licenses you can add domains, check your uWebChat license for the number of supported domains/sites.

Can I create my own style for the chat window?
The Enterprise edition of uWebChat supports creating your own style.

Does the chat-button appears on every page on my site?
Yes, the current Plugin-version displays the chat-button on every page except login and admin pages. You can however create your own custom code to embed it on specific pages only. The GPL license even allows you to modify the source-code of the plugin according to your requirements.
